The Sketch of the Women Warriors from the Korean Kingdom of Jima in the Historically Wrong Sketch.

Historically speaking, Korean Female Warriors were very rare and if they did exists, history did not properly documented them. Korea, in particular Joseon, embraced and adhere the strict code of Confucianism, which outlined that women served in the household while men took part in the battle and war. The earliest speculation where women served otherwise, taking part in the military activity, was during the early days of the Three Kingdoms (Silla, Bakjae and Goguryeo) where a flamboyant warrior class society called the "Hwarang" existed. Women in these societies were trained in warfare and weapons, to defend their homes in the absence of the male member of the family.

In the Historically Wrong Sketch, Hwang Aerye is depicted as a Noblewoman (Yangban) in the Aristocracy of Jima. As the daughter of the Chief Marshal, she was trained in the art of warfare and battle by her father, a very radical approach considering the male chauvinism at that time. a Skilled fighter and tactful diplomat, she is more than fit to lead an army under the Jima Banner as well as becoming emissary to conduct diplomacy to her neighbors.
