Hi Guys!

Hope you are all doing well and that the weather is fine wherever you are! I am just going to dedicate this page in regards to the upcoming Art-book that I am working on which compiles the drawings I have made (and will be making) in the Historically Wrong Sketch Series: Medieval Series

As it's been awhile since the last update, I from now on, I shall regularly inform you guys regarding the completion progress!

What is a Historically Wrong Sketch Series?

Historically Wrong Sketch Series, or the HWS Series, is basically a collection of drawings, which aims to portray women warriors drawn in historically inspired attires and armors from various historical era with my personal stylistic elements, anachronism and (in)accuracies, which makes them so wrong, yet so right ;)! At first, it was made as an alternative way of depicting women warriors from pin-up poses, boob-plates and chain-mail bikinis, but somehow along the way, history has taken roots into my passion and now, all drawings comes with historical commentaries. so maybe you can learn something new from them and share your thoughts!

About the Historically Wrong Sketch: Medieval Series

The medieval series is currently the largest project which I am working on. It started in January 2014 and the series deals with the portrayal of Women Warriors in historically inspired armors based on the 800s AD to 1400s AD era of warfare. At the moment, the series has more than 81 cultures listed (and growing), out of which, 45 have been drawn so far. Each cultures are unique in their own way, and every drawing comes (or will come) with historical commentaries based on independent studies. You can find pretty much most corners of the world, from Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia, to even the New World like the Mesoamerica and Inca. Nevertheless, the series is an anachronism stew and there are plenty of rooms for feedback! You can find some of the examples below :D

Why Make an Artbook?

Why not? I think publishing an artbook with my drawings can serve as a personal achievement and a statement which I can be proud of! The many months of all the hard-work with drawings and researching to produce such the artworks, as well as to be able to share it with people would be an achievement that can be pride upon! Besides, there are not many art-book deals with Women Warriors of various worldly cultures, each with unique historically inspired armors and commentaries to back it up, so it's a good selling point for the start! Also, it's all about proper women warrior, not objectified women in armor and pin-ups =P

How would it look and what can I expect from the artbook? ** NEW

It will be a big book! How big? Roughly about 200 - 220 pages thick! You could call it an encyclopedia, but wouldn't it be awesome to have a big book with lots and lots of drawings of Women Warriors in unique historical armor plus commentaries? Maybe you can also learn bits of history from them as well :D. In any case, At the moment, it's just a very basic sketches and layout as you can see below:

Please note that The extra photographs are just for placeholder, it will be replaced by my own illustration later on and anything else will be referenced. At the moment, I am opting for the Industry Standard 6x9in., softcover trade books (Paperback) format with full color economy printing on white paper (70#,105 GSM).

When will the book come out?

With the current progress which is sitting at 67% completion, I am aiming for end of year to be completed. Progress status will be updated every month

How much would the HWS: Medieval Women Warriors Art-book cost?

It all depends on the printing cost and how many books will be printed. The cost for me to print roughly a 220 pages colored trade book (paperback) is about AUD$17.00 - AUD$18.50, excluding postage and handling. A top quality printing would cost more, but at least how that's I see it at the moment. On the other hand, I've read publishing it to amazon is cheaper, and the worldwide shipping is cheaper as well so it can cut the cost.

How can I get a copy?

Well, if you are interested in getting one, let me know and I will keep you in a list! I will print it in limited amounts for those who are interested in buying it.

Will it be affordable?

My aim is to make the book as affordable as possible since I want to share all the knowledge about different cultures. . If you are able to purchase the full price to give a little something back to me, that's fine. If for any reason you lack the funds and or unable to afford, let me know and I will try to make sure that you'll get a copy.  Big Simfool Emoji-11 (Grin) [V2]

Interested in helping with the artbook project?

There's plenty of area which I will need assistance with, from proof-reading, historical revision, commentaries, feedback, design consultation and most importantly, giving the artbook and the HWS series more exposure! HWS: Medieval Revisited is a large project and deals with academic topic like history and plenty of written English! At the moment, I am overjoyed with the overwhelming response for proof-readers so the offer is closed at the moment.

I think that's all folks! Wish me luck with the project and Thank you very much for the support!

This is an old post, but I don't know if the book already got printed? I would really love to have a copy. I just don't know about the shipping costs to Europe?
