Description

Another Spin-off from the Historically Wrong Sketch Series - Medieval Revisited, Project Fantasia is a (rather ambitious) project with the aim to bring fantasy elements into the World of Historically Wrong Sketch.

For all my time spend here in DA, I've been making historical sketches, with all their anachronism and inaccuracies so jumping into fantasy works is like jumping on foreign water, something which i lack the experience with. But after much consideration, and especially from many feedback received from my recent journal From History to Fantasy: Worth The Try?, I managed to be able to come up with something that i'm rather familiar with.

Creating something from scratch, even with some familiar elements from works of J.R.R Tolkien or others, such as my own defined race, realm, society, language and etc, would be pretty time consuming, and I have to be fairly honest with this one, People are always interested in things they are familiar with. New race, new world, new fantasy elements, would take time and effort to justify, and by the time i finish everything, you and I both would have already lost interest on the topic :(

Also, I feel that it would be unfair to just simply dwell on just "High Fantasy" where dragons roams around, magic being cast like fresh breath, and other non-human sentient beings coexists peacefully ot otherwise......These would probably the image you all would be aware in your mind already (Lord of the Rings perhaps?). Simply mixing multiple fantasy elements like salad would also create some incoherence if not properly defined, or at least it had to make sense, even if it is a fantasy work.

As you can see, most of my works pretty much covers various cultures spread around the world, from the east to the west (although with many generalization) and i wanted to try to see if i can bring that same feeling into my fantasy work. After much thinking, i came up with an idea, rather than creating something new, maybe i should used what i have already made.....and that is the Historically Wrong Sketch Universe!

So, the whole idea is to create an adventure story told from a perspective of a traveler/adventurer, like Ibn Batuta or Marco Polo, and create drawings portraying their visit to the various magical and mythological places from across the Historically Wrong Sketch Series - Medieval Revisited Universe. The logic behind it is that, There were plenty of lands not settled by humans during the middle ages, and sometimes, the regions unsettled by the societies became source of legends and folk stories. So the character depicted will visit these "legends", maybe meeting some of the Women Warriors or other character from the series (Maybe they can make good temporary/permanent companion :D)

Anyway, enough of the description. My point is that, by portraying carious different (generalized) legends, mythologies and stories from various culture, I wanted people to be aware that fantasy is not just about magic, monsters and dragon, but so much more than that.

So in short, it's Fantasically Wrong Sketch series =P

Nevertheless, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude for these Deviants who have kindly spend their time in giving me their ideas and feedback:
